    Fun Day on Ky Lake

I hope the folks coming down here this weekend have the same bite I had today on Ky Lake...let's just say if any of them do they will blow the tournament out. A little early topwater and then some slow rolling spinnerbaits later in the morning when the sun is up good around the shad schools can make your day right now.

Dave, you might want to put a disclaimer on this post. I don't think Buck or Mike are supposed to read this.

They must not have. I talked to Buck and he said it was the worst day they've had on KY lake. (I was cafeful not to give any tips, like I could really ) Championman who's here fishing the BAIT tourney this weekend said they caught them.

Re: Fun Day on Ky Lake (Daniel)

Daniel...my post was not addressed to Mike or Buck or anyone else in particular. As the rules go, they are not allowed to solicit information from anyone after their cutoff date...but they are allowed to seek information that is publicly available to anyone...which this site is. No rules have been broken. When you fish for a living you know how to get and pass information without breaking rules....just have to use your head.

P.S. I have a number of clients in that tournament.

I heard the lake was really muddy and blue bird skies! Maybe the rain will help the guys today, not so much with the water, but with the fish.

This is why he'll whoop most of us in a tourney, NO not that he fishes for a living, the use your head part.

Not sure about that "whooping folks in a tourney" but I definitely am going to take care of my clients if I can. Just for the record...I did not guide Mike and Buck for this tournament. Anything I put up on this site or any other internet site that is public accessable makes it available to all the public...in this case all the folks fishing down here this weekend. My weekly report is detailed and accessable to all the public. I will be putting a new one up on this site as well as many others this afternoon.

Grass is in the bays on the lbl side of Ky Lake. Some still left in a few of the west side bays but most of it was washed out with the big rains. How was the BarBQue at the festival?

Re: Fun Day on Ky Lake (Tripp T.)

Well it's over and 28lbs won it. 27lbs was 2nd and it only took 15 to get a check for 27th place. We ended up with 20lbs and 8th place. We caught all of our fish on KY from Pisgah to Jonathan. Friday we had 9lbs and caught 4 of the fish on a secret spot above Jonathan and the 5th one in Jonathan. The 4 were caught on a trap in a grassy bay and the 5th on a blade. Saturday we knew we needed a bigger fish and stopped on a grassy bank near Pisgah and got 3 quick keepers, 2 on a sammy and one on a blade. Our little secret spot gave us only 1 but it was our biggest, about 2.14 on a trap. We then spent the rest of the day in Jonathan and caught 4 more keepers, 3 on cranks (firetiger speed trap and an Lucky Craft cb2), and another blade fish. We ended Saturday with 11lbs.
    Congrats to the winners!

Going to try to get a room at Inn by the Lake(read where some of you guys said it was nice), I have fished blood river and johnathon creeks, plan on trailering to a ramp, any suggestions? Our home lake is pitiful I really want him to catch a few good ones.

    Hey Dave

What part of the Cumberland are you going to be on. I have a co-worker that fishes Helms Landing and the Crocus area quite often. He says that those two areas have allot of trout but the big trophy trout are just outside the city limits of Burksville.

Dave, you are not going to be that far from me. Esspecially if you end up down near Burksville, at the most that is 45 mins away from where I live. Maybe we could meet up some place?, oh forgot you are going to be on vacation from bass

I will be at Kendall by the dam. I will be with about 50 other guys. We have been doing this for over 20 years now the first week of October...lots of food, fun and even some fishing...lol. One of those guy outings like a "deer camp". We have two day tourney for the biggest trout caught and a bragging trophy that the winner gets to keep until the next year. I don't even know if I will fish this year...I have been using this thing as a break for the past few years because I have been on the water over 200 days by the time this thing rolls around. I did fish for about 15 minutes last year and won the trophy again with a nice 8lb brown trout.
