Shift Problem After Water Pump Replacement

I replaced the impeller and gaskets on my 95 150 XR6 over the weekend. I followed the instructions from the Super Tips page. I have no problems shifting into forward or reverse, but there seems to be a slight grind/clunk noise when I shift gears with the boat out of the water. I don't remember the last time I shifted the motor into gear while out of water so I am not sure if the sound is normal or not. Should the motor shift silently when out of water? Any ideas on what I may have done wrong or need to adjust? Thanks

Shifts should be made cleanly and abruptly (do NOT "ease" in and out of gear).

There will be a NOTICABLE "clunk" when shifted from Neutral, to EITHER gear (especially noticable when a stainless prop is hanging on the propshaft).
