First tank of fuel should be mixed at 40:1 ratio.

    After that- 50:1 ratio.

General break-in instructions can be found here:

Am I reading that wrong or is there less oil during the first tank than normal running conditions?

    You're reading that wrong:

40 parts fuel: to : 1 part oil during first tank
50 parts fuel: to : 1 part oil thereafter

50:1 ratio is less oil per unit of fuel (as compared to a 40:1 ratio).
