Replacement brush kits are available for these.... and MAY make some improvement, if the starter is cleaned well, end bearings checked, commutator/armature cleaned and checked, etc.
However, I've found it's usually better to simply replace the assembly. Although you may "breathe new life" into the old starter, it's likely to give problems again down the road (sooner, rather than later).![]()
