Steven, best way to do that is take some pics of those hogs and put them up for us to see. What's the biggest you have seen out of Yatesville?

I've seen a few that I'd guess were pushing 9+, the biggest I got out of their was around 7 or 8. I'll have to try to find some pictures.

Elkview is just north of Charleston. We take our boat to Mountaineer Marine in Beckley. Did you ever fish Lake Stephens?

Funny you asked, I grew up about 1 mile from the ramp at Lake Stephens... I know where every little stump, rock, and brush pile are in that lake. Small world. I am glad I see i got ya to change that avatar... looks good, I think they will give Georgia a tough time.

Yea, I really think WVU will give a run for their money.
Go Mountaineers! And as far as Lake Stephens, we tried their once last year, I did decent with a dropshot, but that was about it. We talked to a couple of others and they say the lake is kind of dead during the summer.

Just depends on who you talk to... there are a lot of boat traffic in the summer months which will make fishing difficult on such a small lake. But at night I have seen some nice fish caught in the summer. Spring is definitely a good time... a large number of walleye and tiger muskey are also in the lake and a definelty under fished. I have caught several nice walleye (bass fishing of course) and have seen some 45"+ toothy critters lurking in the tree tops. I fish mostly deep in the summer with a jig in 15-30' water or a white and chart. spinnerbait busting the laydowns... this seems to be the dominate pattern of local anglers.
Average weight to win the Friday night open tourneys usually 8-12 lbs with 5 fish with the biggest bags being close to 15lbs. Not bad for a small clear lake.

Let me know if you need some info on any of that areas waters... I might be of some assistance. My true passion is the smallmouth bite on the New River, givethat a try!

Yea, I can't get enough of the bronzebacks. Another place I like is Tygart Lake, it is loaded with smallmouth.
