Mike, last yr when I fished Barren in late March in our KBF tournament the crankbait bite was on pretty good. Find the walls next to the channel and run your boat right next to them throwing your crankbait next to the wall and bring it right down the side of the bluff wall. Your splatterback bandit will work well.![]()
Well, here's what happened. We left Louisville after cleaning the snow off the truck, and headed for Barren where the weather was much nicer.
My partner, Doc, hooked into a 3 pounder early on a crankbait right against a bluff wall(Terry, thanks), then we moved into a small bay that has produce in the past. Didn't get much, Doc was throwing a crankbait and I was cleaning up behind him with a Jig. Finally felt a thump and set the hook, a 5.39 Pound LM. We were pumped, it's 9:30 and we have aroung 8 pounds in the boat.
Finding the next bite was tough, but apparently it wasn't as tough for some.
We ended up coming in with a limit of fish at 13 pounds, which was good enough for 3rd, plus big bass with the 5.39, which shocked me. 2nd place had 15 pounds and 1st had over 17.
After leaving Louisville with snow on the ground, the 60 degree temps were welcome. Had a great day!![]()

Thanks Bob, I love these early trips, you have the chance to catch some of your biggest fish of the year.![]()
Dang, I'm glad you come in 3rd and I wish I could have sent you that message earlier. I have not been on the boards as much as I should have. Glad ya got big fish and 3rd though.
to Mike and Doc. Mike if you need those tubes I will be glad to meet you half way one night when I am in Frankfort working this week. I hate that you needed them...I would have got them to you one way or another. Sounds like you did OK with the jigs though.
17 days and counting.
Buck
I didn't need them buck, my partner is the Tube King, he's got every color they make. I actually have a good stock of most colors, the Road Kill was what I traded for my helmet.![]()
Good trade on the helmet and 10-4 on fishing with the tube king.
