    Trailer Wheel Bearing Question

I am new to the high performance bass boating world and would like some advice on trailer wheel bearings. I have a 03 Nitro 901 with a dual axle trailer with brakes (trailstar). I am looking to re-grease the wheel bearings and have seen many different opinions/options and was wondering what the best grease was for my trailer? The bearings are different than many i have seen before, it has a rubber plug that comes off then you can pack grease inside with a gun. I was thinking about going with mystik hi-marine grease, but it said not to use it with disc brake wheel bearings. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Trailer Wheel Bearing Question (statedawg)

Don't use the fitting excessively. It usually only takes a squeeze or two at most. Over-greasing will lead to bearing failure quickly on a boat. Normally you'll have an indicator ring that just needs to nudge out to show you have enough grease.

You want to use a good quality grease with a soap that isn't water soluble. That's often called marine grease, but some greases that aren't labelled marine will work. Never mix two different kinds of grease unless you know the are compatible. You can end up with soup instead of grease.

no no Cat Fan, I think he has a bearing lube axle with the rubber plug you remove to expose the zerk on the end of the spindle. In the directions they tell you to pump out all the grease that may have been contaminated every time you launch. here's the link:

I stand corrected, Dennis. Dad had those on his trailer, and I had forgotten Tracker used them.

thanks to all that replied, dabs has the right one the bearing lube axle. I decided to go with the Mystik hi temp #2 lithium complex due to the trailer having disc brakes. I have a 3 part question now. I have worked on one axle for about a minute now and it is still spitting grey grease out (new is red). Is it possible to get all the old grease out (i assume yes), if so how much will it take to get all new stuff in and is it worth it? thanks again for helping the ignorant.

each hub holds 6.6 oz. If you are using a 14 oz tube of grease, each hub will take about 1/2 of the tube, each time.
