I just purchased a used boat. The trailer is an 08 tandem axle EZ Loader. When going to back the boat into my drive way, which is up hill, my brakes keep locking up and not allowing me to back the trailer up. I'm using a 4 prong adaptor and the trailer has a 5. Is that my problem?
YES, that is your problem. You need a 5 wire plug on your tow vehicle. The 5th wire(blue) gets attached to your back up lights. This opens a solenoid on the trailer that stops the surge break from appling pressure to the trailer break system.

Use a c clamp or something to keep it from compressing until you get the 5 way adapter.
