    When to replace trailer tires?

I know the average rule of thumb is to replace trailer tires every 5 years, but, I have a 2003 Triton that is stored in my garage which it climate controlled, the 5 year change out is based on a trailer that sits out in the weather and is subject to UV damage, rot, extreme temps, etc. What are the thoughts on one such as mine? Should they be changed out every 5 years too? They are still in great shape with NO sign of any type of wear or damage, and BTW, it is a tandem trailer.
Let me know your thoughts on this are guys, Thanks.

The eye/ride test is #1. I wouldn't worry about it.

I have a couple originals on mine still - purchased new April 2001 - they are still in decent condition and haven't left me anywhere. So they are going on 10 years old - I sure wouldn't worry about 5 year old tires!

Miles is miles, but if you store your boat inside, you'll get a lot more time out of them due to the lack of UV damage (cracking on the sidewalls). Also keeping them properly inflated will help the tread life.

Which leads to a question I have. Do you suggest airing the trailer tires to the max pressure stamped on the tires? Also, for vehicle tires. I have 16" Michelin LTX m/s. Do I use the door frame sticker as a guideline for psi or the psi stamped on the tire. These tires are on a 2500HD. When towing the boat I air up to 80 psi as stamped on the tire. What psi should I run when not towing? any suggestions? Thanks in advance.

Personally I would not run 80 lb in those tires unless you are loaded heavy(way more than the tongue weight of a BassBoat trailer). I am running about 50-55 in the rear and 55-60 in the front. Only need 80psi it hauling near max load.
Boat trailer tires, near what ever the max on the sidewall says.
