Is it possible to build a swing away tongue on the trailer in the first picture using the swing tongue kit. I guess my main question is how do you bring the two side channels on the trailer together after you cut them off. Heat and bend? Notch the channel and bend? Is it even possible? I've searched all the previous post about swing tongues and can't find an answer. Any help would be appreciated.

There are some pictures somewhere of somebody doing it. Try looking for "A-Frame tongue" You don't bring the beams together. You cut the whole front off and hinge it on one of the beams and pin it to the other.

Thanks for the help. Is it necessary to have the trailer jack up on the tongue to carry the weight as it pivots or could I get by without it? The trailer that I have doesn't have the trailer jack up on the nose.
