Type of brake fluid for EZ Loader trailer

Forgive me if this is posted somewhere but I searched and did not find it. I have an EZ Loader trailer and I need to add some brake fluid. I did not see on the cap the type to use. Can someone tell me which type and a good quality brand to use?

    Thanks!

Re: Type of brake fluid for EZ Loader trailer (simtech)

It's sometimes stamped on the tongue or actuator. How old is the trailer?

In most cases, DOT 3 or DOT 4 will work regardless of which is in there already. Steer clear of DOT 5, and if you have any suspicion that's what's already (unlikely) in there don't add 3 or 4 to it.
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

Re: Type of brake fluid for EZ Loader trailer (CatFan)

It is a 2005. I will check the tongue and actuator. I bought the boat 1.5 years ago and the previous owner had a lake house so the trailer did not get used often. However, I can not be sure he did not add any fluid. It is highly unlikely he did.

From research it appears Dot 4 is a better choice between the two. Is this correct?

    Thanks for the help
