    trailer brakes locking up

I've got a 2000 929 nitro and 2000 model trailer not sure which brand, but the disc brakes keep[ giving me trouble, coming back from fishing and noticed some smoke rolling off the rear, stopped and the wheels where hot as hell, couldn't touch them, grease was dripping out the buddy bearings, let them cool off for a little bit and try to get home, didn't have a problem the rest of the way, it's done this twice on me, obviously the pads are rubbing and causing the wheels to overheat, visually looked at everything, looks fine, the tongue is not locked up, any suggestions, thanks

Is your trailer sitting level on the hitch? Is the problem happening to both sides?
If you have integrity, nothing else matters. If you don't have integrity,
    nothing else matters.

Well, your problem isn't with the calipers. They are obviously getting fluid. The fact that they are not releasing means fluid is not returning to the master cylinder. The fact that they worked once you took off again indicates that the actuator was partially engaged, then freed up once you resumed your trip. The UFP actuator has a brake release that is located on the bottom, just to the rear of the ball socket. The release mechanism should go up and down freely. If you hear a clunk when you first push it up, the pushrod was caught in the release. Occasionally when hooking up to the trailer, you can back up too far and accidentally hit the release mechanism, distorting it. A pulled breakaway cable will also cause this problem. I suspect you have a pushrod with a broken clip inside the actuator, or a shock that has gone bad. I presume you don't have a swing tongue from 2000, but if you do, check to be sure the hose is not kinked.
