    E-Z loader trailer spring replacement.

I am going to be replacing the springs on my 2002 TR19 single axle trailer.
I have multi leaf springs, they just seem to be getting weak. No broken places that I can see. Looks like the tires are too close to the finders and I'm gonna have to do something. Sticker on trailer says max load 2890. Would 3500 springs be too much? Sticker also says it takes ST215-75-14 tires and that is what is on the trailer. I know that the 3500 would be what you get with 2 1750 springs.

I've had good luck with taking trailers to a trailer shop or trailer parts shop and letting them look it over & recommend. Heavier springs might be the answer, but you could also stiffen it up too much and get a hard/bouncy ride.

Thanks for the reply. This is a pic of what I am talking about.
Not much room between the finder and the tire.
    Not a good pic though.

Loosen the bolts on the fender and steps and reposition. Or get smaller tires.

make sure your axle isnt bent too. looks like your tire is angled out some at the bottom.

Fenders are welded. If I went to a smaller size tire it would have a lower wt. load limit. This is a post where I found out about the wt.
    Thanks for the reply.

I think it's just how it looks in the pic. Tires had/have no wear that is not normal.
Does look bad in the pic. Now that you pointed it out.

Typically you can get the same spring rate with a different geometry and raise or lower the axle quite a bit. Not too expensive in my experience. Especially if you change them out yourself.

I can change them. But where is the best place to get them?

Check out http://www.easternmarine.com and upgrade by one weight and you should gain at least 1 inch of extra clearance. Your trailer looks the way mine did until I replaced my springs. Their website will help you determine what size you now have and they are easy to ship UPS.

Got my new springs from http://www.stengelbros.com/UtilitySprings.htm
Very fast shipping but I ordered my bolts from another place. Cause I didn't see any like I wanted on the site I ordered the springs from. Still waiting on them.

Where is the part # on the spring? Mine has a layer of (spray grease) kinda all over where I tried to spray the sides to kill all the squeaking. It did help the squeak though.
Let me know where to look and I'll get the number.

Re: E-Z loader trailer spring replacement. (Fish TR19)

Gary how are you? Well I just replaced my springs on my EZ Loader and have some good hands on experience here. First thing is remove the spring to get the measurement. Before you remove them I would suggest spraying all bolts with something like Liquid Wrench the day before or so.. Makes a big difference. One you have them measured you can find them most anywhere. I have a 20' Sprint on a single axle and it only had a single leaf as the stock spring so I also had to buy new axle bolt, the ones that go over the axle do to the spring. If you have single leaf you will need to get new bolts as any replacements you find will be 3 or 4 leaf. I put 4000lb per pair 4 leaf and they are GREAT!!! I got my information about what spring to use from the folks at EZ-Loader. If you can see the serial numbers on your trailer, even if you cant, you can call them at 870-481-5138 and they can help you with what you need. You could even buy the springs from them too. You will need 2 jack stands to remove the spring one for the boat frame and the other for the axle. Jack up the frame until the tire is off the ground, about and inch or so. Put it on the jackstand then jack up the axle just to get the weight off the spring and place the second jackstand under it. I did mine with the trailer hooked up to my truck for extra support. The whole process takes less than an hour. If you have any questions feel free to e mail me at bluewingjb@comcast.net Hey if your springs happen to be 27 inche dual eye type I could make you a great deal on a pair..
