    300 Pro Max vs. 300 X

Which is more reliable? I know they both will run... but for fishing which is better reliable, and why?

I have heard great things about both... but to be better filled in i would appreciate it!

    Thanks and GOD BLESS

Both are fairly reliable, but the 300X is over 30 HP stronger. However, most parts are not interchangable, as the 300X was "different" from the other 3.0 EFI motors.

from doing some reading... the pro max's sounds as if they are bullet proof. i know the xb's are based off the pro max engine.... i just would like to know which is better to fish with.

NEITHER engine was really designed as a fishing motor.... they're both based on RACE engines.

That doesn't mean you "can't" use them for fishing... just means you need to keep in mind the "run cycle" that was intended (not intended for extensive idling or low RPM runtime).

I agree with spider1 based on gas mileage but I would also like to have the HP of the X motor.

    Just my two cents worth........

I own a 300x slightly mod'd and I run the crap out of it. From all the issues I see on the Opti style motors, I'll not be buying an xs motor anytime soon regardless of fuel savings.

That's a strange comment, Gary. We have to keep in mind the percentage of ProXS/XS motors hanging on the back of bassboats currently in service (that's a VERY large percentage of the market).

Of course... I'm fine with your decision... as we'd love to keep you on the "frequent buyer plan" (just kidding, of course).
