    Painting boat trailer with "Herculiner".

I got this question in the wrong forum so I will restate it here if OK. It was suggested by an aquaintence that repaining with the "Herculiner" truck bedliner stuff would be ideal for repainting a boat trailer. Question I have is seeing is believing. Anyone here used the product and what results did you find?

I've seen a couple trailers after they were done and they looked great. I've just had trouble seeing them after a couple years to see how they fade. A friend of mine did his boat with Herculiner instead of carpet. After 2-3 years, it faded. May have been durable, but......

That's the only reason I haven't put a couple coats over my galvanized trailer.

Thanks Alan, I have not got the stuff yet to do the my boat trailer but plan on once I get my boat motor straightened out. I still want to see a trailer with the finished "Herculiner painted with 2 coats preferably

I did my trailer myself over a year ago and love it. I have had lots of complements on it. They do make a sealer you can put on it that is supposed to help with the fading, but I have not done it yet as I think it still looks as good as the day I put it on. It is somewhat messy but it was worth the pain. The worst part was getting the boat stored and switching them out. I am sure it is not for everyone but I dont have a trailer with anymore rock chips on it.

    Herc last year and

Did that last year after the state (arrrr) failed to post a "fresh gravel slow sign" and I pitted the hexx out of my trailer in the dark on that stretch...$50 can of the grey Herculiner and a brush...wiped down ONLY the side of the crossbars facing the winch (front) and its been fine and well protected since...keeps out water-rust too...90 minutes well spent...I like.

Did my trailer 5 years ago with Herculiner still looks good and holds up well. I applied it to the crossmembers and the inside walls, on the outside I left the original paint and used a chip proof film over the paint it is still holding up well. Tip: after you launch your boat at the ramp get a can of Armor All tire foam and spray the Herculiner it cleans and brings back the original shine. No need to rinse off just spray go fishing and you will have a clean trailer when you come in at the end of the day.
