It seems that i have a wiring issue on my trailer, from what i have seen the running lights work but when they are on and i step on the brakes they go out,, is this an issue that will need a total re-wire? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Weird light problems are almost always a ground problem. Check to see that the white ground wire on the trailer is connected to BARE METAL. Ditto on the truck end connector.

I replaced the connector on the vehicle because some of the wires were rotting away, thanks minnesota winters, when i get the boat back from the mercury dealer i'll see if if that does the trick.

There's a very easy way to check your grounds. Hook up a jumper cable between the truck frame and the trailer frame. Again, bare metal is important. If the problem goes away, there's a ground problem somewhere.![]()
