    Anybody tow with a Highlander?

Hey I'm considering getting a new Toyota Highlander.
I'd like to use it to tow with just wondering if anyone else tows with one and how it does?

    It's rated at 5000lbs I'll be pulling 2500ish.

You should be fine with that weight. I pull about 2200 lbs with a Ford Escape and that is a considerably smaller vehicle with a smaller motor than a Highlander.

Agreed. I pull my G3 HP180 with a Nissan Murano (rated for 3,500). Boat/motor/trailer package is probably just under 3,000 lbs with full load. The Nissan pulls well. Given the Highlander's higher rating, you should be fine.

Check an owners manual for the vehicle you plan to buy. I did that in 2005 and found that Toyota required the differential oil to be changed at regular oil change intervals if you towed anything . I didn't care for that requirement and associated cost so I bought a Tahoe instead.

buy the new Forerunner you will be much happier. I use to tow my 18ft Champ with a Escape and burned up the tranny and motor quick, can't imagine the Highlander would be much different. I use a 07' Tundra with my 21ft Triton now and you forget its back there. The Forerunner should feel the same and is better rated for your application

Make sure you don't get the Forerunner with the 4-cylinder!!!! Good luck.
