I have an 89' 20ft. Champion with a trailer that needs to be refurbished.
The trailer bunkers(bottom and sides) need to be replaced and I'm considering going a step further and taking it to a shop to have it powder coated. I would then tackle the rest of the work myselfl( bunkers, lights, brakes...) but I'm not sure what to do with the boat besides taking it to a lake and renting a slip for a couple of weeks while the work is completed.
Any suggestions?

I did mine a little at a time. I did all the running gear first. Springs, equalizers, straps, new bolts/nuts. Then I got all the wood and carpet I needed and carpeted a bunk or two a night. Then on the weekend I dropped it in a local pond and put the new bunks on. I didn't have mine powder coated though. Maybe you could find someone with a boat lift and ask to rent it. Maybe put an add on Craigslist and see what happens?
There are a couple of things you can do with the boat. Besides renting a slip. I see you are in the area south of STL, there are some places like dealers and marinas that can take your boat off the trailer and place it in dry storage. Either place it(w/ forklift) on blocks, outside, or for a bit more, place it in a boat storage warehouse. The next possible thing is get some cribbing and jack up the boat off the trailer yourself and store it at your place, if that is allowed. I have done that and placed it on hay bales, did the work and then backed up to the boat and crept it back onto the trailer, a bit at a time. The renting of a slip is probably the most costly, but these other options are likely available and less damaging to your pocketbook. Thanks for the responses everyone. I'll start checking dealers and marinas in my area. I think I would feel safer going that route.
