    Nitro Trailer Hook up

Hooking up my Nitro 189 Sport is a real pain. The hitch doesn't want to go over the ball on the truck. Sometimes takes up to 45 minutes to get boat trailer hooked up. It's like the hitch thats fits over the ball doesn't open far enough. Has anyone else had this problem? Appreciate any help.

on mine, the cable for the break away actuator jams the latch. Try moving the brake cable while you are trying to open the latch.

If you have a 2in.ball and a 2in. hitch on the trailer.....about the only thing it could be is the hitch is not open all the way. Get some WD40 and spray everything that looks like it should move when you unlatch the hitch. I'm talking about from under the hitch.

If this is the same thing you have ....look at page 12 to see where to lube.

Appreciate the feedback. Got it lubed good it just doesn't open far enough. Could the ball be the problem? Appreciate the link to the manual. I printed it today. Thanks

Do you have breaks? If so the actuator may be partially depressed. Had that problem myself.

Make sure you use the correct size ball.

if you get one too small so it fits now, and whatever is messed up fixes itself, you may lose the boat going down the road

Breaks may be working great but if that actuator is depressed only a bit it prevents the coupling from opening all the way. When the boat is hooked up, chalk the wheels and then pull forward an inch or two. You will see the coupling now opens all the way! Easy on and easy off.

Will try that. Sound like a good suggestion. I haven;t tried chalking the tires and then pull forward. Will let you know how it works out. Sure appreciate all the help.

Re: Nitro Trailer Hook up (TRCM)

Going to replace with standard 2 in ball. Had boats for years. This new design for hooking the trailer doesn't work as well as the standard hitch. Guess I'll get used to it. Thanks
