towing question chevy 4.3 v6

I am looking at 2 ranger boat models, the 170vs with a 115 optimax (this model does not come with trailer brakes) and a 178vs with a 150 vmax which does have a trailer brakes, but it is a heavier boat, my tow vehicle is a 2008 chevy 2wd automatic with 4.3 v6 could I tow either of these tow boats with that truck, I've never owned a fiberglass boat been told they will push you down hills, etc. Trailer brakes is a good safety feature but the bigger boat will mean more weight to tow?

It should tow fine. Go with the one with trailer brakes and enjoy. I tow with a 20' 6" Storm with a Tacoma and have towed some long distances. Brakes are a must and put a transmission cooler on your truck.

You'll pull just fine but I would look into some upgraded brake packages. Drilled and slotted rotors with semi-metallic pads.

I agree..you could tow either with that truck. Get the bigger boat!!!

+1 on the trany cooler. The 4.3 should do fine. I towed my Pantera with one and had no problems.
