Question for Lyn

Hi Lyn -

I recently purchased a 2001 Champion 206 Elite with a matching Champion trailer. It has the Trailer Buddy Axels by UFP and the blue autocheck rings. I have put some grease in each of the 4 hubs and I see no evidence of water intrusion. I've trailered this rig about 600 miles so far with no problems. Is there anything else to check besides possibly checking bearing adjustment? Thanks for your help.

To check bearings, jack up each wheel and check for any side to side or up and down movement. Any more than 1/8" will require adjusting the bearings. Spin the wheel while listening and feeling for any bearing rumble. If all is smooth and tight, there is likely no problems with the bearings. If you do have to make a bearing adjustment, torque the spindle nut to 20 inch pounds or as tight as you can with your fingers. One of the most common causes of bearing failures is over tightening the bearings.
