I have one on the side of my trailer but I was thinking about removing this and adding one to the split of the trailer on the front as seen on many trailers.
Has anyone added one of these?

I just put one on my trailer - what are you wanting to know?
I have one on the side aswell. I am wanting to weld one to the bottom of the trailer.
Took my rig to a weld shop and had 'em do it, $100 materials w/ labor.
One thing I had 'em add was two threaded studs about 5" long, welded upright to the T-piece of the tire holder---- I can place my wheel lug openings over the studs and secure the tire/wheel with locking lugnuts.
Just carry the socket key for the lugnuts in your boat.

What did you use to touch up the paint? I would love to do this also. My concern would be getting the paint to match and/or adhere adequately to the new surface as well the old. I hate NOT being able to see both trailer tires as I am towing the trailer. Where my current spare tire carrier is prevents me from seeing the right side trailer tire.
My trailer is black, just used black RustoLeum---probably easier to match than a fancy-schmancy color, though. The tire/wheel covers most of the welded carrier, I doubt you would notice any slight color difference--just get color as close as you can and go fishin'!![]()
One other tip I've seen after I did mine---may want to weld the carrier on at a slight downward angle (down on the trailing edge, following the keel line of the boat). On a steep ramp, the down rearward angle may keep you from ramming the tire as you load the boat. Mine's welded level, never any probs.
Go look at some trailers at the ramps/dealers, you'll get the picture. Good Luck!
Do you have any pics?
