    how often do you repack your bearings

    just wanted to get an idea of how often you should repack your bearings? and how often do you grease them?

    I repack them every year, and a shot or two before long trips.

    I just check the wheels for looseness once or twice a year and check to make sure all the seals are not leaking. If the indicators on my hubs are not sticking out much, I will put in a pump or 2. I also monitor them for heat. If you stop to get gas, just touch them and feel for heat. They should barely be warm after 20-30 miles. I don't think it is necessary to pack them too often if they are still in good shape. I have had my boat for 4.5 years, and have yet to get the bearings repacked. I will probably do it in the next year or two..

    If you are making longer runs to the lake, it might make sense to do it more often. It also depends how loaded your trailer is. It is pease of mind.
