    Swing Away Tongue

I am going to move and the new house has a 20' garage and my total boat length with trailer and motor is 25'. I understand what might be needed to do the swing away trailer, but I am not sure about moving the surge brakes. I have the type that mounts on top of the trailer and it has a hard brake line going to it that goes to the back of the trailer. If I do the swing away I will need some type of flex line to go to the surge brakes. Will I have to change the line all the way back to the axle or is there away to just splice the line toward the front of the tongue. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You can add the flex line and you can cut you brake line where you want to install the flex line and you will have to flare you brake line, back to the bevel fitting for you flex line. Of course you will have to put the screw fitting on your brake line before you flair it. You might have to have what they call a Double Flair fitting Tool to do the job, most time the steel line will split if you use a regular flaring tool.

Thanks for the information. I will have to get in my new house before I can really measure to see if I can shorten the tongue enough to work. If I see that it will work. I think I might take it by a brake shop and see what they say about doing the brake line work for me. I figure this way I will feel better about it being done right.

If you add the swing tongue, be careful how you route the flex hose, they cause me ALOT of problems...
