Should you Balance Tires on a Trailer?

I just put 2 niew tires on my trailer they were nearly a hundred bucks a piece. The guy at the tire store said they never balance trailer tires. I thought all tires bigger than a lawn mower were supposed to be balanced. Any advice woould be greatly appreciated.

I think a lot of guys have them balanced but I'm betting the majority aren't balanced.

I've had a set balanced on a prior boat trailer because the tires were vibrating my truck pretty bad. I had the stick on weights put on so they wouldn't hammer the rim weights on the outside of the wheels. Out of 8 boat trailers I've had, only one needed balancing due to OOR tires.

We have been told by the manufacturers that they don't need to be balanced. But some of our customers do get them balanced. In my opinion I would probably have it done as it is much cheaper then replacing tires.

Absolutely. It is even more critical to balance your trailer tires since there are no shocks to dampen out vibration. I had mine spin balanced when I bought them and I plan to have them done again at about 5K miles.

Thanks for the input guys. I think I will go ahead and have them balanced, even though the mfg's say it is not necessary. I can't believe how expensive a trailer tire is.

I just hitch up every other time i have the truck done-- they only charge me 15 bucks more to do the tandem axle trailer.

I would have them balance, nust places when/where you buy them mount and balancing is included. So why not get it done!!
