    Over Drive quest.

Taking my GMC 1500 Z71 to Canada in a month with the Champion in tow. I have never towed (on ourpose anyway) in over-drive, but am wondering just how bad it is to tow (in tow-haul mode) a single axcel bass boat in OD. I have heard horror stories about hot transmissions etc, but the current gas prices got me just curious enough to ask. Oh- I do not have an owners manual.

You can do it but if it starts shifting out of overdrive allot going up a hill, just pull it down into drive and wait until you get to a straight stretch and shift it back into OD. The shifting up and down is what causes heat in the transmission and causes all the problems. As long as it doesn't shift in and out of OD often you will be OK.

If you don't already have one ,install a transmission cooler
