MercMonitor is definitely an option with your Smartcraft Compatible Engine. Our Parts Department would be more than happy to discuss the options with you, and help you to choose a system that fits your needs/wants.

Fuel and oil are covered in the "Oil, Fuel, Spark Plugs post" found in the "Commonly Asked, Commonly Used" Sticky post at the top of this forum.

Your engine utilizes HIGH TEST (91+ octane) fuel, and Mercury or Quicksilver Premium PLUS oil.

I bought a 2005 250 XS and took the advice of buying the merc monitor from Don at European Marine. Best money I have spent on a boat. This was my first Mercury and first used motor and even with very low hours on the motor, I had a high level of trepidation and doubt. THe monitor will provide a level of safety and information never provided before. This was a pretty easy self install with Dons help. By the way, great motor!
