    Bow roller below the winch?

    Is this common?

My bow roller is above the winch right now. One of the few times I took it out(transom broke on the second trip) I was trying to load the boat on the trailer and due to the shallow angle of the ramp and me not wanting to back the truck into the lake the bow roller ended up above the bow and I screwed up the front of the boat as the bow went right between the roller and the winch.

I have been reconsidering making up the brackets to relocate the roller BELOW the winch to prevent this from happening again, but wasnt sure if this was common or a no-no?

I would expect it's where it needs to be......if you're launching from shallow ramps then you'll have some problems but I wouldn't suggest moving it.

don't move it. bite the bullet and back the trailer in where it needs to be. the roller is where it is because the engineers determined that was the best place for it.

The Skeeters are real picky about the trailer depth. You may actually have been to deep. You must allow the bunks on the trailer to lift the boat before the bow gets to the roller. If you have the trailer in to deep you will hit the winch everytime. On my single axle trailer I must leave the tops of the fenders out of the water.

My champion trailer is the same way, must leave a few inches of the fenders sticking out. I or whoever is backing the trailer in always dunks the whole trailer to get the boards wet so it slides a little better

On shallow loading ramps.Just get the boat above bow roller even if it doesnt nudge up against it. Winch it on tight then slowly back into the water.Get out again and winch till it nudges against the roller Don't forget to dip the bunks in to allow for semi easier loading. But I wouldn't suggest moving it.
