I ordered the m-ywedge, and immediately returned it. It doesn't work on a yamaha engine anyway. You can still turn the motor from side to side with the wedge. You can't do that with a traditional transom saver.
here we go again.... Its just like the Ford vs. Chevy debate...

Who cares if it dont hold it centered? I dont like how the typical transome saver rubs the paint off the lower unit and how bulky it is. Not to mention you cant get the sucker off if it gets trimmed to far down.

go ahead and laugh it up big boy, but I don't want my motor swaying from side to side while i'm running 70 down the highway.
I have hyd steering and it dont move, You cant even muscle it as strong as you think you are.

I run the My-Wedge on my Yammy just like Mike. I do use the steering clips sold by Cabelas but they may not be necessary. I will never go back to a traditional transom saver again.
Thanks to Phil, I also use the weggie.I wouldn't use a transom saver if it was given to me.

I got my wedge last week.... LOVE it. I have clips on my steering tubes so my motor can't turn so that's not a problem. I will say I'm not too sure about where the wedge pins up against my motor (onto the motor stow bar). But so far it seems great and it's a WHOLE lot easier than fighting with a transom saver.

You can make you some hydro steering clips out of PVC; I did on my evinrude and it works fine and the engine doesn't move from side to side in transit anymore.![]()

I'v been using mywedge for 3 ro 4 months and wont go back to a transom saver ever. But i'd use a locknstow if thev ever make one for yamaha.![]()

I'll say this again:
My 250 hp on the back of my boat will push it 80+ mph and jumps waves alot on the big water... There is a hell of alot of stress on the transome doing this with a 12 in jackplate... My transome is designed for this.... If you think my transome needs an aluminum brace to hold my motor while hitting a few speed bumps you are mistaken. All the wedge does is take the weight off the trim rods and make the motor and transome solid so it moves together. A transome saver can and will transfer the road bumps from the trailer "TO" the motor and transome.... I'm not interested in that.![]()

Good post......I agree; I threw away my transome saver and now use the factory trailering bracket exclusively on my 200 Evinrude. It is designed for going up and down the road and the boat and motor move together whenever it hits bumps in the road. I agree that the boat goes through a lot more stress in the water, especially when the engine is sitting on a plate (mine is sitting on a 6" Bob's Hydro). I am convinced that it is better from every angle to "not" use the transome saver that attatches to the trailer. JMHO......Roger![]()

If your just taking stress off the trim why don't you save a few bucks and use the little bracket that flips down when its trimmed all the way up?
Sorry to see your boat like that 521. Looks like you made out alright with the z though. I wonder what would have happened if it had a wedge on it. Looks like the transom saver used the trim to soften the blow on the transom. I dont think the wedge would have done that.

Your motor has to be trimmed all the way out to flip the lever leaving the motor in a horzontal postion. It sticks out too far, can flood certain engines and I thin the motor is not ballanced well in that position. The my-wedge is not expensive either.

ok rime to jump in lol is it a shock? I thought the idea was to put the support down on the trailer to take weight off the transom. I have seen em but do not understand the principal behind them.
