Man, that sux. The motors are typically bullet proof. Is there any indication as to what caused the failure? Own a 2002 and try to do the proper maintenance and fuel cocktail as mentioned on this site. Any insight appreciated. Good luck with recovering any $$$ and hope that you will do well in the future with a new motor acquisition. Are you leaning to the OPTI technology or going to look for another XB? If I were in your situation, the decision could be difficult due to the money difference involved. Good luck with your decision.![]()
Still trying to decide on what i will do. the motor is 10 years old and i use my boat at least 3 days a week. i have no idea what the hours are but im sure its way up there and this is the first trouble ive had with it so its been a great motor. i will probaly buy a new powerhead and keep running it

look in the motors section and there is an 02 block that you can get.
The XB block is one of a kind. It is the only block that does not have relief slots in the exhaust ports. The sleeves in an Xb are from the Optimax 225 3 liter. How big and where is the hole in the block. You can put a new sleeve in the block and get the block welded and salvage it cheaper than buying new.New will not be an XB block it is no longer available.

Just for reference... the block is NLA as a replacement part, but the powerhead assembly is "currently" still available (not very cost effective, however).
100% agree with Richard in that you want to make certain you get the RIGHT block... that would be a lot of work to undertake, only to find out you DIDN'T...![]()
