    i want to install temp gauge on my 3.0 liter

    can anyone answer a question for me,does the analog water temperature sensor come from factory already installed in port side head?,,and will it work with any automotive style temp gauge? i was told the wiring is there at instrument cluster,purple 12 volt supply wire,tan sensor wire,,,we are gonna start fishing early this year{end of this month} i just wanna make sure engine is up to full operating temp before we blast off,,,thanks for any information,,

    {the service manual shows 2 digital water temp sensors,one in each head,1 analog water temp sensor for gauge}

    if the engine is smart craft compatible it is easier to put a Merc Monitor on it

    starts at 80*, goes to 220*,,,i seen in manual t-stat opens @143* i asume this should be around normal operating temp? dont know never had a temp gauge before,or fished in 40* water,,starting tx early this year,read some post on "cold seize" condition, man that would take a bite out of my tx funds,welcome any feedback,,,

    HD:

    That's a good temp range for use in your engine (that was the primary concern).

    Would it be possible to get your engine's serial number... which will allow for "specific" identification of the engine and it's components?

    The temperature signal on your SMARTCRAFT COMPATIBLE 225 EFI comes from the PCM (propulsion control module), based on inputs from a temp sensor in each cylinder head.

    The BEST method for temperature monitoring (and monitoring of other critical engine information, including faults) would be to consider a Smartcraft Instrument (such as the MercMonitor).
