1998 Vindicator 200 with 24 pitch Raker. RPM range in manual says 5600-5800 RPM. I can wind it up to 5800 RPM and still have some trim to play with and no sign of rooster tail on a 1998 Champion 190SX. My question is when does the rev limiter kick in and is it safe to temorarily wind this out to 6000RPM ?
Seems like you could go to a 26 P and raise the motor some. IO would keep the RPMs down where they belong. That;'s where the motor makes it horsepower.
i have the same motor , recommended WOT is 5500-6000 , and as far as i know tere is no rev limiter in these motors, i'm sure Rusty , cm , or seahorse will correct me if i'm wrong.you should be able to turn a 3 or 4 blade in 25 pitch no problem at all , and 26 in 3 blade for top end , light load. what is you current speed at those rpm's??
You will have parts coming out before you ever hit the limiter, which I think is 6750 or so....
The crankcase parts make nice nic-nacs. I've got a couple on my kitchen window sill to remind me that the only things that go in my outboard that aren't OMC products are gas and air.
