    Smartcraft ?? Don

I ordered and recieved a new 619 ranger this past summer with a Pro XS 225. I always have had Yamaha with yamaha gauges that showed MPG. I was told when I order the boat the smartcraft gauge does the same things. Not - I know Merc does make gauges that show MPG so what would it take to swap out? I install and rig my own boats with electronics, radio --- so I am capible with some installations.
    Thanks, Rick

    Rick:

    Welcome to BBC!

A good starting point would be to find out precisely which Smartcraft Instrument you currently have (and precisely how it's wired).

Can you provide a picture of the FRONT, and BACK of the instrument?

BTW... ALL Smartcraft Instruments have SOME FORM of fuel consumption information available (it may simply be turned off in the configuration or calibration section of the setup).

    Don
Thanks for getting back with me. The boat is in storage till March 1 than I can investigate. But it is a black square housing - surface mounted. I do have gph not gpm which I would like to have. I make 25+mi long runs in Lake Powell so every mile per gal I can squek out helps.

    Rick:

Do you happen to have a picture of your dash?

Sounds like you have a System Monitor (it will give GPH as you mentioned).

My suggestion would be a Level 1 or higher MercMonitor (perhaps replacing your speedo or tach). That way- you can get the FULL features of Smartcraft, RANGE, multi-data-item display, ECO FEATURE, AND have the ability to export data to other NMEA-2000 devices.

Give me a call sometime to discuss... you'll find my "digits" below.
