I'm in the market for a decent climber treestand. One that is fairly lightweight, quiet, safe, ez to use, comfortable, that kind of stuff. Leaning towards Ol'man treestands, but have never used a climber before so am open to suggestions.

I really like my Summit Viper. It does get a little heavy when you are walking long distances, but it is very comfortable to sit in all day for me.
I don't like the Ol' Man climbers, when you sit in them they fold in a little and it's not really comfortable.
I've got a Loggy Bayou Cajun Climber that I've had for 10 yrs or so and it's a keeper. Remember when you're shopping there's always that compromise between weight and comfort...don't get a stand so heavy you dread carrying it to your stand.![]()
I really like my API. Don't remember which model it is. It has the wrap around frame which helps you really feel safe. It has never caused me a problem while bow hunting, though I have never shot at a deer inside of 15 yards. Comfortable seats.![]()

summit viper ss is very hard to beat.

I have a Summit Goliath, and I like it a lot. However, I would probably buy a treewalker next.![]()
Climbing stands are pretty much all I use and to me there is nothing as quiet and comfortable as a Summit Viper. Between my dad and I we have 2 or 3 vipers and a Goliath. Best stands made in my opinion
Nother vote for a Summit here! My favorite is the Summit Revolution it has been discontinued now(for legal reasons) but it is the most comfortable climber I have ever used and I have used alot of different ones. The Viper is an awesome stand as stated it is simple to use, quiet and most of all comfortable!
I have a couple of Tree Lounges that work pretty well for me. The weight is reasonable and they carry well on a strap. A lot of people do not like them because of the turn around to get seated and then the turn around to climb down.
I am thinking about picking up another climber for the season and I am contemplating a Summit Viper/Goliath or a Treewalker.
I like a towerstand best now because you just show up and climb in, and have some protection from wind and mist. After that, I like a good double ladderstand because you just show up and climb in. I don't care for climbers that only allow the hunter to face the tree.

I have a Grandslam Magnum Supreme with the rail and I like it a lot. But I also have a Grandslam Bowhunter that I prefer 9 times out of 10... I will also say that the Summit Viper is a great stand. A friend has one and I used it a couple times and it was very nice. I kinda liked it better than my API's.
I have used the Ol' Man Grand Vision for years, actually only climber I've ever owned. I don't need the Grand Vision, rated for 300 lbs, but I like the extra room it affords me. I love them. I have used a friend of mine's Summit. It was okay but I guess I'm so comfortable with my Ol' Man. Packs easy and very secure on the tree. Good luck with whatever you decide.![]()

I'm one of the ones that doesn't like the turn around to get up and sit down....with big boots you're asking to flyThe other thing I always found odd was using a safety harness that is hooked to the stand, not the tree, doesn't seem like much of a safety net if the stand slips or comes unhooked somehow. I also couldn't keep the paint on it, the newer ones are powdercoated from what I've heard but my unit came as shiny new aluminum...I sandblasted it, used etching primer, and painted it several times but after you slide the leg extensions in and out a few times the shiny aluminum would rear it's ugly head again.

I used mine 1/2 a season and sold it...the guy that bought it already had one and he was getting the other one for a family members. They seem to have quite a following, must be a love/hate thing with them.

Another vote for the summit viper bass pro has one on sale now in their ad also![]()
