    Octane boost ?

I'm not around any non ethanol gas. I have a 2010 300XS, I run 93 octane (w/ ethanol) would it be a good thing to add an octane boost ? I do add startron for the ethanol. Also what oil is everyone using? I'm currently using Premium Plus, thinking of going to Klotz. I've been running Yamaha's and this is my first time on the Dark Side.
Thanks in advance for your comments.

I run the Quicksilver synthetic oil in my 300 Promax and 93 with seafom in every tank. It's hard to get non ethanol gas around my house too. Don will chime in in a little bit he knows way more than me.

The following post covers nearly all of your questions:

Please CAREFULLY read the Oil Recommendations section of the above post.

I would NOT recommend adding "octane boost" to fuel that already meets the octane requirements of your engine. Doing so can contribute to carbon buildup, and actually COST you performance (higher octanes burn SLOWER and COOLER, producing less BUTANE rating and power).

Thanks guys and Mr. Don on the link. Any benefits on using Klotz, or will the Premium Plus be all that's needed? And I'm loving my Bullet and Mercury more every time I'm in it. Wish I had done this years ago.

I have a steel sleeve engine as you and only run a blend oil as the Mercury Plus or Pennzoil plus but not in that order in if you caught my drift ? Ihave a 2.5 200Hp with the the oiler off 40:1 and Don's cocktail in every tank of gas .

Has your engine been sleeved? Sure thought the 2.5 200's were chrome bore?

    No... they're steel sleeved.

Personally, I'd stick with an oil proven to provide excellent protection for your engine (unless you're inclined to "test" results... and accept the outcome, be it good, bad, or otherwise).

    JMHO....

    Re: Octane boost ? (EuropeanAM)

On my 07 300xs the owners manual states Merc Premium Plus and Quick Kleen as an addative. Thats what I run. I do on occasion add Sta-Bil when the rig is going to sit more than a week or two. I also don't keep the gas tank full so I am always adding fresh gas.
