08 200 Optimax VS 2012 200 Pro xs

Is there any difference in the two engines or did they just put new stickers on the same engine? If so what are the differences?
What should it cost me to trade engines? Mine is a 2008 200 optimax with around 225hrs on it and no warranty. It runs great and has no problems.

Nearly identical engines.

Differences include:

-PCM calibration change
-Improved air attenuator
-Cowling graphics

As for trading.... you'll need to address that with the dealer you're purchasing from. For a general idea... you can look up your old engine at: http://www.nada.com (consumer side, boats, outboard motors). Subtract lower value from the MSRP of a new engine.... should give you a "general-ballpark" idea.

Don, as always I appreciate your knowledge and willingness to help however you can. Thanks

There is several different 200 optis to chose from on NADA but they all seem to be within $500 or so in value, but overall the low retail values were higher than I figured they would be.

Keep in mind.... if you're figuring from a low retail value, you would need to assume that amount as applying to "MSRP price" on a new engine.

Most dealers are willing to trade "value to value".... but unlikely to sell you an engine at cost and give you "retail" for your trade.

I understand that, but I'm getting different numbers from different dealers on MSRP on the new one, anywhere from $11,995 to $15,000.

MSRP (Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price) should be the same anywhere you contact.

The SELLING price, however, may differ.

MSRP: 200 ProXS is $15,580.00

soo what does this mean?
do both motors push the same power?, do they perform the same?
does the 2012 have any newer technology?

I have been reading up on this and keep getting different answers.

The two engines produce very similar WOT propshaft horsepower (less than 5hp difference at the propshaft). The 200 ProXS has a very slight "edge" compared to the Standard 200 Optimax.

It's calibration improvements also offer improved holeshot and mid-range punch, making it a better choice for angling applications.

Re: 08 200 Optimax VS 2012 200 Pro xs (EuropeanAM)

thanks for the clearification,

but i guess my real question is, is this measurable in mph ???

could you comment on whether the pro xs would be faster than a stnd optimax, given that they were tested on the same boat, same circumstances,

Your saying that the pro xs would have an edge, but like by how much, 5mph faster, or 1mph

your opinon means alot to me, thanks in advance for taking the time to answer.

1 mph +/-.

Correct

There would likely be a difference in the holeshot time (and mid-range "punch" or response time) as well.

soo what your sayin is, if I had a better hole shot, and took off another optimax (non-pro xs) of around the same horsepower would have difficulty catchin up cause the pro xs would be up and gone.

I would say the one that has put the most time and effort into thier setup will be in front.

If the Decals is what you want, get you some new ones and dare someone to say that it's not a ProXS, {Just kidding}.
