    Rage 2 blade broadheads.......

If anyone has a question of what broadhead (fixed or mechanical) to use - this should be your answer. There is NO question about it - these are the tips that will adorn my arrows for many years to come.

I was a die hard Thunderhead 100 user for YEARS......nothing else. It was them or nothing. Period.

Then my buddy talked me into trying the shockwave mechanical broadheads.........I tried them and really liked how they flew - much better than my fixed blade thunderheads. So I switched.....but really wasn't 100% on the bandwagon of mechanicals..........yet.

Now - fast forward about 3 years to TWO weeks ago. My buddy and his dad all bought the Rage 2 blade mechanical broadheads.........I'd been hearing about them - but wasn't really understanding how they open better than the traditional mechanical bladed that open rearward. - Just didn't make sense to me - they actually sorta "slide" open.......I was like - whatever.

Then that morning my buddies dad got a doe - and the damage was unbelievable - I mean I'd seen pictures on other hunting sites......but to see it close up and first hand. There was a HUGE hole. I was impressed.

    I bought a pack.

I got the chance to use one yesterday. I shot a doe at between 45-50 yards. Now before anyone says that's a long shot or whatever, I've been practicing like a madman and am 100% confident in my ability to hit what I'm aiming at.

I whacked this doe slightly back from a 'perfect' shot - but my arrow went in and came out just in front of the front shoulder. I took out a lung and the heart. She went only about 50 yards or so before expiring. The damage this mechanical broadhead did was un-freakin-believable!!!

We walked up to where she was laying - and my buddy's brother in law made the comment "holy chit - it looks like a murder scene!!"......it was that bad. There were saplings that had blood sprayed on them 4' up!! There was blood everywhere where she stood and expired.

If any of you have ANY doubt what broadheads to use........I HIGHLY recommend these Rage 2 blade ones! I've seen 2 deer shot with these already this year and can tell you - you hit one good, and there's NO way in hell that you will be looking far.

I have been using the rage 2 blade this year and you are right they are awsome! A few deer and an elk at 80 yards fell to them whithout tearing them up, I had a miss that went thru a 3 inch branch and never hurt it, your right about the yardage, 50 is not much if you practice.

Checked out the website to see if the 2 or 3 blade was the way to go. Kind of in the middle of which to try. I have a shorter draw length (26), but do shoot 70#. Should I try the 2 blade or go with the 3 blade like the website suggests?

I shoot 3 blade and a buddy shoots two blade...BOTH and I mean BOTH are just absolutely WICKED!!!!!!! In fact...I ain't seen anything quite like what they do to a deer!!!!! I used Muzzy for as long as I can remember...and he is the one that got me to shooting the Rage. Glad I made the switch. Steve

I also was fixed blade all the way until I shot the "RAGE". I tried the 3-blade first and the results were similar to the fixed but, the 2-blade is different. We shot 3 good sized bucks this year with the Rage 2-blade and the results were devastating. My son shoots 53lbs and went through the front shoulder, no exit hole but massive blood trail and 40 yd. recovery. I shot mine quartering away complete pass-through. The deer just made a few steps forward a stood there, I nocked another arrow and anchored him where he stood. My buddy also had similar results with a perfect broadside shot. The Rage sliced through like butter about a 1" behind the shoulder and the deer just stood there as if it did not know what happened, he too was able to take a second double-lung. That deer went less than 10 yds. also. I'm not sure if the bucks just standing there allowing a second shot was coincidence or what but the damage these broadheads did to all 3 deer looked more devastating than a shotgun slug kill. They fly nice too!

    Rage... One Word!
    UNFREAKING BELIEVABLE!!!!
These heads are awesome, I have a bunch of friends in the hunting TV business that use them and I can tell you, these heads produce more damage than anything out there.

No thanks, I'll stay with a fixed head.

That's good - it means more on the shelf for me to buy........ Stores can't keep em stocked up here.....

Seriously though - like I said, I was a die hard, true to the core Fixed blade Thunderhead 100 shooter.......there was no way in hell, until hell froze over I was going to switch to mechanical heads............

Boy am I glad I did........

Well, I have to make something clear. I shoot a 57lb home made selfbow and homemade broadheads made from a saw blade. i don't know if a mechanical blade would open with my bow but i regularly have double lung pass throughs with my home made stuff.

absolutely they would! doesn't take much for them to open - they 'slide' open, and don't require the force necessary to open 'backwards' like the other style of mechanicals do.

I'm sure if you're getting complete pass throughs with your set up now - that you'd have the same results - but bigger holes.

check them out online - look them up..........

I have heard great things about these heads and yes they do cut a wicked hole!
I have too many fixed blades to use up right now. But when it's time I think I will be trying these!

So do I - but that didn't stop me from putting all of them in my little plano arrow accessory box and buying the Rage's!!!

I seriously have about 30-40 fixed blades in my box now.......and have no problems buying the Rages and sticking with them!!

Yeah but one thing you need to understand is that I have never had to purchased any archery / hunting equipment in my life. For some reason it's hard for me to walk into a store now and have to pay for something...LOL

My father, Jim Dougherty is one of the pioneers of archery. If you want to call it that...LOL
If you have followed archery history at all you may have heard of him. So needless to say growing up we never had a problem getting our hunting equipment.
