If anyone has a question of what broadhead (fixed or mechanical) to use - this should be your answer. There is NO question about it - these are the tips that will adorn my arrows for many years to come.
I was a die hard Thunderhead 100 user for YEARS......nothing else. It was them or nothing. Period.
Then my buddy talked me into trying the shockwave mechanical broadheads.........I tried them and really liked how they flew - much better than my fixed blade thunderheads. So I switched.....but really wasn't 100% on the bandwagon of mechanicals..........yet.
Now - fast forward about 3 years to TWO weeks ago. My buddy and his dad all bought the Rage 2 blade mechanical broadheads.........I'd been hearing about them - but wasn't really understanding how they open better than the traditional mechanical bladed that open rearward. - Just didn't make sense to me - they actually sorta "slide" open.......I was like - whatever.
Then that morning my buddies dad got a doe - andthe damage was unbelievable - I mean I'd seen pictures on other hunting sites......but to see it close up and first hand. There was a HUGE hole. I was impressed.
I bought a pack.
I got the chance to use one yesterday. I shot a doe at between 45-50 yards. Now before anyone says that's a long shot or whatever, I've been practicing like a madman and am 100% confident in my ability to hit what I'm aiming at.
I whacked this doe slightly back from a 'perfect' shot - but my arrow went in and came out just in front of the front shoulder. I took out a lung and the heart. She went only about 50 yards or so before expiring. The damage this mechanical broadhead did was un-freakin-believable!!!
We walked up to where she was laying - and my buddy's brother in law made the comment "holy chit - it looks like a murder scene!!"......it was that bad. There were saplings that had blood sprayed on them 4' up!! There was blood everywhere where she stood and expired.
If any of you have ANY doubt what broadheads to use........I HIGHLY recommend these Rage 2 blade ones!![]()
I've seen 2 deer shot with these already this year and can tell you - you hit one good, and there's NO way in hell that you will be looking far.
