What to do in the winter?

I will be picking up my boat with a new 250 pro xs in Jan. I plan on trying to get out and break it in over Jan and Feb. The problem is I live in Indiana and the winters can be very cold those two months.

What do I need to do when storing my boat between outings? It will be in a garage, but it will not be heated? Thanks.

-Drain water from speedometer and water pressure tubing (blow backwards through tubes to expel water)

-Treat/Protect livewells and pumps to prevent freezing damage

-Park boat with engine in the "full down position"

-Turn off, or disconnect batteries (unless you choose to charge them regularly).

    Thanks Don.

What do you mean by treat/protect livewells?

How often should I charge the batteries? I will have 4 diehard AGM 31's

I am assuming most of the stuff from the maintenance link you gave me is for the annual check-up. Should I do any of that stuff if the boat will just be sitting for just two or three weeks between outings? Other than the stabil or cocktail?

Use RV Anitfreeze and pour in all your pumps. I leave my batteries in all winter and I always charge them every 3 weeks.

    +1

I would also recommend protecting water pressure and speedo gauges by blowing water from the hoses (this is easily set up with a "tee" in the line behind the gauge, and a short line that dangles below the dash, plugged with a golf-tee).

Gearcase should be checked for WATER CONTENT (better yet, change gear lube).

ALWAYS park the engine in the FULL DOWN position during freezing weather (or months of the year when freezing weather might even possibly occur).
