My maiden voyage with new boat.

Guys I just got my first boat its a 04 Ranger 185vs w/150 opti. Got her out on the water today with a buddy of mine who has been around boats his whole life. He really showed me alot. But after he left I got out by myself to figure a few things out. My question is when crossing a wake of another boat like a barge of big cabin cruiser how do you approach the wave. I literally got scared out of my shorts crossing them.

We have a lot of those boats out here on the delta, all you gotta do is trim down and slow down and go at an angle from the waves

Be sure to slow down and cross at a 45 degree angle. I like to keep the bow up when crossing.

Yeah whatever you do make sure to slooooooow way down, trim down and cross at an angle. I hit one wake from an monster cabin cruiser and I didn't slow down enough, IT SENT ME AND THE BOAT STRAIGHT UP IN THE AIR. I was so high that water in the livewell came out the back of the lids. My buddy was behind me and he got airborn with his wife in the boat and I looked back at them and they were so HIGH that I could see his prop from the front of his boat . SLOW DOWN and you will be fine.
