    Wiring question

Is it easy to run wires throughout the boat? I want to move a transom mounted TD to the TM. I am running a new hull mount TD to the back.

I will pull a line throught when I pull the transom mounted TD through so the hull mount should be easy. The TM mount will offer the biggest difficulty.

Use an electricians fishtape or plastic coated cable. I usually pull a piece of string through to tie on to the wires. Then use the string for pulling the wires.

pull a wire thru instead of a string, it wont snag as easy......fishtape works best.......imo

I use a piece of wire as well. I suggest that when you pull your transducer wire through, you pull an extra length of red wire through as well. Next time you want to run something from the back of the boat to the console, you already the "pulling wire" there. You won't have to fight the fish tape again. Just remember to pull a spare green wire through as you're pulling the red wire out. The color choice is up to you, it's just easier to explain saying red and green.

Be careful with the fish tape and duct tape the end well so it doesn't snag on any other wires on the way through. Its hell to get out sometimes if it does.

I use a fishtape if it's the first time. I also pull nylon cord through at the same time, each time I pull, this way, there is always a piece of nylon cord to use to pull wire. As for the original question, look under the console and there may be a piece of conduit going to the front the wires go through. If so, use the fishtape to go through the conduit -- don't forget the nylon cord. John
