If your boat didnt come with a hotfoot, what are the advantages of adding it????? Isnt the hand controlled throttle acceptable????? If they are that much better, why arent they installed on all boats from the factory??????? Can you tell i'm new to boating?????......lol I have one in my boat, (installed by previous owner) and have also driven my brothers boat quite a bit, and he doesnt have one. I'm just as comfortable in his with the hand controlled throttle.
I consider a hot foot a safety feature!!! It allows you to keep both hands on the wheel, and more throttle control than what the handle control gives. You are more able to make rapid throttle adjustments with a hot foot and keep both hands on the wheel at the same time. You get your foot out of a hot foot and the engine responds instantly, no fumbling trying to reach the hand control. Also give you better control of the boat, some boats do come standard with a hot foot.
I have owned with and without, will never own another one without a hot foot.
Example in rough water without a hot foot you have to keep one hand on the hand control and one on the wheel constantly adjusting...with a hot foot, both hands are on the wheel and your hot foot works just like the throttle in your car.
To me if your boat will do over 60MPH you need a hot foot.

Hot foot for sure. I tested my kill switch the other day, gave it a jerk and the lanyward broke. If I had fallen out and the kill switch not worked the boat would have ran wild at WOT instead of slowing down to idle.
Hot foot and steering trim are very nice features to add to your boat. I am old school racing and only run hand throttle and I know the KS works on my rig. I drive em all the time, but my personal rid has a hand throttle. Just preference.
The hot foot is the nicest thing I got right after Hydrolic steering....
The reason Championman don't use it is because his Little legs barely touch the floor so you can see why he can't touch the Hotfoot!!! LOL

Hotfoot is the way to go. It's always nice to have both hands available in rough water. Just remember that you need to get used to it and that there is No brake pedal next to it

A hot foot is a safety feature; I personally wouldn't drive a fast bassboat with a hand control. You just don't have the control in rough water, plus if something happens and you were thrown to one side (and it didn't activate the kill switch), the boat would still be going to same speed.
With a hot foot, your foot comes off it and the motor goes to idle speed.
Hotfoot all the way. When I first went to test drive my boat I did not think I would like the foot throttle. After about 5 minutes on the lake I was hooked. I've driven boats with hand and foot throttles and there is no comparison between the two when it comes to the extra control and safety the hotfoot provides. Any boat that I own in the future will be hotfoot equipped.
I agree with championman, the hot foot and steering wheel trim lever are the way to go. Great features that are reasonable in price. When I buy mine these will be two standard features I will request. By using both you keep both hands on the wheel and are ready for anything.
Then being as i have a hot foot, i guess i need to move my trim to a steering wheel or blinker style trim. Trim is still on the hand control.
I wouldn't say that you have to but the whole concept is to give you both hands on the wheel. And when you get caught out in that heavy chop its nice to know you don't have to remove your hands from the wheel to comphensate the trim but that everything is in reach of your fingertips. As well, on those cold days that you may not have comphensated for you can rest know that your right hand is having the wind blocked by the console instead of having it exposed to the elements. If you do one its pretty safe to say you should do the other. When both of these acessories are used together you get one great combination and upgrade. IMO

Id say yes 100% get a blinker or some style at the wheel trim. I will NEVER have a bassboat or any fast boat without hotfoot and blinker style trim control. The safety it offers is priceless. I was tossed from the drivers seat to the middle seat in my old javelin, not far enough to pull the kill switch, but out of reach of quick hand control. Back of boat got wet but it come off plane and allowed me to regain control quick
in my honest oppinin i dont think any fast type of boat of any kind where it has a hand throttle and trim on it should be sold without a hot foot and trim on the wheel
its so much easier to control if you get in a bad situation like someone cutting you off or if you get a rogue waver come up on you pretty quick........not that i have ever had either of those happen to me any at all
but bottom line in my oppinion all of them should have them both
New to the board....just a question regarding the Hot Foot add on. Do you need to change out the throttle cable if you add a hot foot ?

There are times that a hotfoot would be nice, but running Lake Powell's expanses is not one of them.
Real rough running, would enjoy it, short runs all the time, same. Long runs.. up to or over an hour, no thanks!
