My trailer plug was damaged beyond repair and I was hoping replacing it would be easy enough but things got a little confusing. The old plug has one yellow and brown wires stuck together, one brown and green wires stuck together and one white. The only new plug I could find comes with only one wire in each color listed above. This is where I got lost and didn't want to risk frying either the trailer or the truck's electrical system by doing something stupid. Any help would be appreciated.
What year/Make is the tow vehicle and the boat/trailer? Should be standard color-coding. As long as you get yellow to yellow, brown to brown, etc., you should be just fine!

The brown wire is the wire for the trailer tail lights. On the trailer plug, there could be 1 or 2 brown wires for the trailer tail lights. Regardless of how many brown wires there are, it/they is for the tail lights. Just connect each wire from the trailer to the brown wire on the plug and you should be ok. Like the previous post, just connect the same color wires together.

I have always just used Hoppy's Kits for my tow vehicle's and never had a problem.
Choose the one for your vehicle, and then crawl underneath and pull apart connection on wiring harness and insert the "T" and reconnect. The pigtail will be prewired with everything matching your truck's wiring perfectly whether 4 or 5 wires. Takes less than 5 minutes and costs under $20
