I hear of people running their best WOT runs with some pretty impressive numbers, but I am wondering how long / far they are running before getting those numbers.

To report any post you disagree with press Alt + F4.
If I am doing it just for speed numbers, usually I run on a 4-mile long lake and use about half of it....1 mile to get up to speed, another .5mile to get the trim just right and read the gps, water pressure, tach, etc, then the last .5 mile to slow down....
Or however long I need to go WOT to pass the boat in front of me....![]()
I would say more than 3/4 of a mile at lest, take mine that long to get up to full speed and depending on weather water conditions might take longer
If you really want to go after speed, it could be quite a distance. My boat hits 5200 in a snap with a 25 Gade, but to get to 5600 it takes probably a mile with a chop, 1.5 with out chop. More than likely depends on your setup. I'm running a 25 Renegade bass with no jackplate, motor sitting in the top hole. I'm turning 5600 with 2 people and more to go sometimes, but I don't run above 5600. A little 18fter turning that prop and that rpm seems to surprise alot of 225's out there.![]()

If I'm puttin' at about 20-25, I can trim up to where I run at wot and then hammer down on it and I can get to 70+ in 1/4 - 1/2 mile.
It takes about a mile to get it tweeked to get the most out of it.![]()

Kinda similar to his question but when you guys run how often are you runnin. WOT. Like every run or sometimes or what.![]()
I never really gave it much tought but after spending a weekend in the passenger seat my friend said that my boat has two speeds; idle and WOT. So to answer your question...I run mine WOT most of the time that I'm out. Having said that, I always have one eye on the WP gauge and the tach.![]()

I will usually make 1 or 2 wot passes while I'm out if water conditions permit. Usually the run back to the ramp for sure.![]()

Wide open throttle. I hardly ever run at WOT. Just enough to make sure its still their. I am usually goin along at 4000 - 4500, probably 50 - 55 mph, so I can spot structure or obsticales in front of the boat.

WOT is addictive. and will end up costing more in gas than a crack adiction!
Yep, I have also been told my boat has 2 speeds...WOT and idle. BUt to answer the other question...If im ringing out my boat for topend, I like to have atleast 2 miles of wideopen water. My boat tops out at about 72+-, but that is with absolutley perfect condition. Meaning first thing in the morning of a windy day. Boy, when you get that cold air into that motor its a whole different animal. Normal runs are low to mid 60s, especially with 1/2 tank of a 55 gallon tank, both livewells full, 2 people, and a crap load of tackle. Generally I can get my boat up to about 55 fairly quickly, its that extra 10-15mph that you need the room to run for.
I usually run 4000-4500rpms most of the day....At least once per day I'll run her up to wide open and hold her there for 2-3 miles, but other than that I/m content at 4500 and 65-68mph and 6mpg....![]()
I pretty much run WOT throttle all day except when I am turning corners. but my boat has topped out 56 with just me and good conditions
