    lost fire to #4 cylinder 1997 225 EFI

    checked fire to all cylinders. all fire but #4. moved #4 coil pack to other cylinders, coil pack checked out good! stater or the ignition sensor maybe? how could i check them??

    Stator is most likely cause.

    Where the stator harness comes out from under the flywheel, you'll note multiple GREEN (with various stripe color) wires, and a bundle of white wires.

    Check resistance from EACH GREEN wire to white (ground) bundle. Resistance on each wire should be essentially identical.

    If one wire is found to be substantially different (or OPEN CIRCUIT), the stator will need to be replaced.
