    Humminbird Switchfire 2D Sonar...Fish-getti

A buddy of mine Don House at Branson Fishing Guide Service sent me this image of Spotted Bass near the surface and Largemouth Suspended below them. Cool thing is the Bright Red (With Original Color Pallete) Shows when these active fish where directly below the transducer. HE said the hardest part was getting the bait thru the Spots to the Largemouths...dang that would suck

Doug, am I understanding correctly? The brighter red color indicates that the fish is very close to being beneath the transponder and the green colors are indicating they are off to the side. If I am understanding correctly, then that is some wonderful educational information for me. Doug, you are a tremendous source of help for us "fledgeling guys!"

Exactly. The closer the fish is to the center of the cone angle the stronger the return and with this color pallete the Brighter the Red. The Further away from the center of the cone angle the more, Yellow, Green, Blue the fish is. It makes it so easy to pinpoint each fish you want to catch and place the bait near the fish directly below the transducer.

I thought a larger fish would also give a strong return, i.e. red. Even if off to the side of the boat. Is this not the case?

It;s strength of return and especially when using Switchfire Clear Mode it pinpoints the fish 99% of the time directly in the most intense part of the sonar.
