How to clean paint overspray on concrete

I am finishing my basement and it looks like when they were building the house they sprayed all the trim on the basement floor I need something to strip it, so I can use an epoxy paint. Preferably something non toxic that wont stink up the entire house. Any ideas???

First lets find out what kind of paint it is. Denatured alcohol will remove latex paint. If it is a latex you can put the epoxy right over the latex.
If it requires lacquer thinner it is an oil based paint.
If acetone it is a lacquer.
For the most part you are looking at using stripper if it is a large area. This means NO open flames in the area or where the fumes might travel. Use the proper respirator with new charcoal filters. Alot of people have lost or most of their memory due to stripping in confined areas.
I take it you are referring to an acrylic floor coating, a true epoxy is toxic and will stink the house and garage for a few days.
If you are using an acrylic just rent a floor sander. The acrylic will adhere fine to what paint is on the floor, if sanded first.

Great info thanks. I believe it to be latex as it is just white paint that they used on the trim and doors. I actually thought about just painting over it but it is thick and nasty looking in some places and I want it to look a little better. I will test an area and see what takes it off.

I am not sure about the floor coating. I "thought" it would be an epoxy paint but it could be an acrylic floor coating. I know it says specifically for concrete floors on the can but I didn't read it very close (it was left here by previous owners, two brand new gallons). Thank you again for the help

If you sand you will need about 20 grit and this will take it down pretty quick.

Go get graffiti remover. You can get non-toxic citrus based remover. Home Depot/Lowes has it.
