They are both good and they are for diffrent uses. Stabil stabilizes fuel and helps with the effects of ethanol. Quickleen cleans carbon and prevents carbon build up only. So trading one for the other is NOT a good idea. Quickleen does not stabilize fuel .Use both of them all the time.![]()
Yep, two entirely different products intended for different uses.
no doubt. i appreciate the help. i learn something everyday on this board. ill be out to buy some in the morn.
I use quickleen and startron for the ethonal in the prescribed amounts every time I add gas and have had no problems..I don't trust stabil marine from one of the boat programs , said that stabil does not work.....![]()

I've been using Stabil (Golden Eagle) products for over 35 years.... and can attest to some rather amazing results with it.
Of course.... the FUEL the product is used in has a BIG AFFECT of the EFFECTIVENESS of ANY PRODUCT.
Personally... I prefer the Mercury Brand products now, due to the simplicity of the ratios:
1 oz. Mercury QuickCare per 5 gallons fuel
1 oz. Mercury Quickleen per 5 gallons fuel
If, and only if, your boat will be stored for more than 30 days (meaning your fuel is not consumed and replaced within 30 days)... add 1oz. Marine Stabil or 1oz Mercury "QuickStor" per 5 gallons fuel.![]()
Of course, the old cocktail works quite well, too.![]()

I like the old cocktail![]()

but Don I assume you could substitute Startron for the Maine Ethanol Stabil ?
I don't use Startron, so I can't comment on it's effectiveness in the "cocktail".![]()

Prior to a year or so ago, marine stabil was just a stabilizer. But the new marine stabil has injector cleaner and ethanol combatent in it. I have yet to see any comments as to whether the new marine stabil can replace the 2 or 3 part cocktail. I have made the switch to only using the new marine stabil as my cocktail since it claims to be a stabilizer, injector cleaner & ethanol combatent.

Just did....does not mention carbon buildup at all. Deposits and carbon buildup ain't the same thing.
In the long run, it's your engine, your wallet. I choose to run what Mercuy says to, that way I am covered if something happens.

I have the black bottle of Quickleen. How do y'all measure an ounce? There are no gradations on the bottle.
I pour mine into an empty Stabil bottle.

I've been doing that a long time. The only thing that pisses me off is over year ago you could get a 32oz bottle of Stabil for around $20.00 now you can't find the 32oz bottles they have the 8oz bottle for around 10.00 so the have doubled the price because everyone started using it. I know things have went up but thats a 100% mark up
