    Venison Roast help

    I tried to cook a deer roast in a Crock pot today...used 3cups of beef stock, and 1 1/2 cup of onion soup mix soup...I seasoned and seared the roast first, then put it and all the trimmings in the CP on low...dry, dry, dry???...what did I do wrong and what can I do to avoid this again?....

    Thought maybe cutting it into cubes and adding pork cubes as well next time??...

    Was the liquid in the bottom of the crock pot watery?
    When I use a crock pot,I cook it all day on low.
    Make sure there is enough liquid to just about cover the roast.
    About 4 hrs before serve use cornstarch to thicken into a gravy consistency.
    At about 8 hrs the meat should be close to falling apart when you push on it.
    Turn off the crock pot about an hour before serve and leave the cover on until you
    serve.The gravy will penetrate back into the meat by then.
    Don't ask me why the thicker gravy works but it does.

    It only cooked about 4 1/2 hrs and was done...almost hard

    It will be that way,let it keep going.
    The long low heat and the thick gravy will start to break down the meat fibers.
    It does work.
