cabin fever time-whats the best way to remove rust from hooks and to clean lures
The best way to clean rusty hooks is to replace them. I read an article one time that said you could put your lures in the dishwasher to clean the white powdery haze off them. I've never done it so I'm not sure how it would work but it sounds good.

I replaced the hooks but I hand washed each one with dawn dishwashing detergent and they look like new even 3 weeks later. It was so easy I wish I had done it earlier. I thought the white stuff was there to stay but it came right off an stayed off![]()
Throw them in the garbage![]()
For your lures that may have gotten rust on their plastic bodies try a metal polish like Flitz.
put them in a bucket and pour a 2 liter coke or dr pepper over them, will eat the rust right off the hooks over night! Of course you may want to take them off the baits first :)
