    Gas Tank Tip

Something very simple I did that helps me a ton at the gas station. My tank is square (doesn't taper from top to bottom). I took a ruler and measured the height of the tank. then divided by 4 and marked those spots with a sharpie and wrote the amount of gallons. when I fill, I use those lines as a guide to know how much gas I have in the boat.

Cool idea, I will do the same thing. I can see the level if there is enough light.

Yeah I guess it kind of has to be a prerequisite I love it because I fill half a tank, but my guage shows about 1/4 May be figuring in a reserve I guess

I can just see pulling up to the local gas station and telling ol' Buford to "Give me 8 inches of the good stuff".

    Re: Gas Tank Tip (dchance)

I marked my gas tank the easy way. Just run out of gas. Then, mark the tank with a Sharpie every ten gallons as you re-fill. The lesson learned: never trust a gas gauge!

    Re: Gas Tank Tip (muskietime)

That's what I did except mine is 24 gallons and is 12" tall, hence, every inch is 2 gallons... I used a paint pen instead of a sharpie... my gauge is about 4 gallons off by the tank
